De Leon Steals the Show in BTCC Pre-Season Test
The 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship got its first real preview at Croft Circuit on 24th–25th of March, with fans attending the two-day official pre-season test. It was WSR's Daryl De Leon who made the headlines, setting a lap of 1:20.417s in his BMW 330i M Sport - the fastest time ever recorded by a BTCC car at the North Yorkshire venue, dipping under Tom Ingram's pole position benchmark from the previous season. James Dorlin in the Restart Racing Hyundai came agonisingly close to topping the timesheets, finishing just 0.027s adrift in second, with reigning champion Ingram third. Tuesday's wet afternoon session saw three-time champion Gordon Shedden set the pace in difficult conditions, while new faces also impressed.Plato Racing made their public debut with the Mercedes A35 Saloon, and Power Maxed Racing's trio of Audi A3s drew plenty of attention from the crowd. NAPA Racing UK were particularly active, completing a remarkable 652 laps across their four Ford Focus Titaniums. The BTCC show now moves to Brands Hatch on 8 April for the official Season Launch and final pre-season test.
